Summary of Position: This is a full-time, temporary, grant-funded position to provide operational and maintenance support for the Shimadzu Core Laboratory (SCL) until 8/31/26. Working with chemical analysis and familiarity with a wide range of analytical equipment including high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC), mass spectrometers and NMR. Core responsibilities, under the direction of the SCL Director, will include supervising student workers on various projects using scientific instruments such as HPLC-MS and NMR, administering training for students and faculty in laboratory safety regulatory compliance and instrument usage, overseeing instrument maintenance and repair, and ordering of supplies as well as general office work.
The anticipated start date of this position is March 2025; however this is an estimated date and can be revised if needed.

Required Education:MS or PhD in science related to Analytical Chemistry Methods or BS in science related to Analytical Chemistry Methods with 2-5 years experience with NMR and/or LCMS.
Required Work Experience:Experience with advanced NMR and LCMS techniques.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities: Under the direction of the SCL Director, will include supervising student workers on various projects using scientific instruments such as HPLC-MS and NMR.
Administer training for students and faculty in laboratory safety regulatory compliance and instrument usage.
Oversee instrument maintenance and repair, and ordering of supplies.
General office work.
General lab maintenance, running centrifuges and autoclaves and overseeing students on the project.
Communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
Work cooperatively in a team-oriented environment.
Successfully interact with a variety of staff, students, and visitors in a variety of situations.
Train, supervise, and schedule faculty and student employees in the lab.
Performs all duties in compliance with applicable University policies and procedures and state and federal requirements.
Demonstrates an understanding of diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging, especially in working relationships with students, faculty, staff, and community members.
Support, promote, and develop university student enrollment and retention initiatives
Any other duties assigned within the position classification area.
Marginal Duties/Responsibilities:
Skills and Abilities: Working knowledge and expertise with LCMS and NMR lab equipment use and maintenance, and safe laboratory practices.LCMS and NMR techniques.
