Job Description

The Department of Biobehavioral Nursing and Health Informatics (BNHI), in the School of Nursing at the University of Washington, invites applications for two positions with either a minimum 50% FTE to full-time, 9-month teaching-track faculty positions at the rank of Assistant Teaching Professor, commensurate with experience, beginning in September 2025. Although it is a 9-month appointment, the position may have opportunities for teaching and/or research funding during summer quarter. The initial appointment is a 3-year term (renewable). The base salary range for this position will be $9,500-$10,900 per month ($85,500-$98,100), commensurate with experience and qualifications.

This position will demonstrate a commitment to teaching and mentoring a diverse community of students in the undergraduate and graduate programs and to working collaboratively across disciplines, cultures, and academic backgrounds. This position will be expected to teach didactic and clinical courses and teach in-person as needed. Positive factors for consideration: Demonstrated leadership in mentoring students, clinical faculty, and preceptors, and experience working with underserved and diverse populations.

  • Candidates must have an earned Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) or Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in a relevant field (or foreign equivalent).
  • Candidates must be eligible for and seek RN or APRN/ARNP licensure in Washington State prior to hire.
  • Two or more years of clinical nursing experience
  • One or more years of experience teaching in undergraduate or graduate programs in nursing.

To be eligible for an H-1B visa that allows patient care, graduates of foreign (non-U.S.) medical schools must show successful completion of all 3 steps of the U.S. Medical Licensing Exam (USMLE) or equivalent as determined by the Secretary of Health and Human Services. Graduates of foreign (non-U.S.) nursing schools must have a Visa Screen credentials assessment from the Commission on Graduates of Foreign Nursing Schools (CGFNS). Note: Only full-time positions are eligible for UW visa and permanent residence sponsorship.
