The Department of Educational Leadership and Policy Studies at The University of Tennessee, Knoxville is seeking applicants for a non-tenure-track nine-month assistant/associate professor of practice in higher education position beginning August 1, 2025. This position can be fully remote and includes a supplemental stipend for program coordination work in the summer as well as the opportunity to teach in the summer for additional compensation.
Duties and responsibilities include:
§ Coordinating and growing the online master?s program in higher education administration;
§ Teaching four graduate courses per year and advising students;
§ Collaborating with college and department faculty, staff, and students;
§ Having a strong commitment to the mission of the university, college, and department.
The Department of Educational Leadership and Policy Studies is a thriving unit with more than 200 graduate students and 20 full-time faculty working with programs in K-12 education, higher education, adult education, and evaluation, statistics, and methodology, and an undergraduate minor in leadership studies.

Required qualifications for the rank of Assistant Professor include:
§ An earned doctorate (Ph.D. or Ed.D.) in higher education or other related fields ;
§ Potential for successfully leading graduate programs at a Research I university ;
§ Potential for teaching excellence in graduate level programs;
§ Demonstrated commitment and ability to shape equitable and inclusive experiences for diverse learners/audiences;
§ A willingness to plan/design, develop, and deliver instruction in an asynchronous program.
Required qualifications for the rank of Associate Professor include:
§ An earned doctorate (Ph.D. or Ed.D.) in higher education or other related fields ;
§ Three years of full-time experience in an administrative position in higher education;
§ Demonstrated excellence in teaching in a college or university;
§ Demonstrated commitment and ability to shape equitable and inclusive experiences for diverse learners/audiences;
§ A willingness to plan/design, develop, and deliver instruction in an asynchronous program.
Preferred qualifications include:
§ Experience coordinating academic programs;
§ Experience teaching graduate level courses;
§ Experience with distance learning and teaching methodologies;
§ Demonstrated ability to work collegially with others, including faculty, staff, and students;
§ Demonstrated knowledge of administration in a higher education setting and the application of higher education scholarship to that work.
