Job Description

Bell & Company, PA, Certified Public Accountants, is seeking an experienced Bookkeeper to join our North Little Rock office. ONLY QUALIFIED CANDIDATES WILL BE CONTACTED.

NOT A REMOTE POSITION. THE QUALIFIED CANDIDATE MUST BE WILLING AND ABLE TO WORK IN AN OFFICE SETTING.

Duties include but not limited to the following:

Bookkeeping:

  • Scan source documents into system (Quickbooks, Ultratax,etc) using a desktop scanner for both bookkeeping purposes.
  • Organize and prepare source documents by category to create work papers; bookmark work papers as needed for both bookkeeping and tax preparation.
  • Enter data from work papers into the system using Quickbooks.
  • Reconcile bank statements, verify data from client is accurate, prepare journal entries and enter data into Quickbooks. Provide adjustment worksheet to client as needed.
  • Process payroll, prepare federal and state payroll tax deposits, notify client of deposit amounts; prepare monthly and quarterly tax reporting/filing (941) and notify client of amount.
  • Prepare report, submit monthly sales & use tax, and franchise tax; notify client of amount.
  • Limited preparation of basic financial statements. 
  • Update depreciation information in Fixed Assets.

Client Contact:

  • Contact client for clarity regarding source documents, income, expenses and other pertinent information.
  • Request year end information for recording on W-2, 1099’s and for adjustments to tax returns.

Communication:

  • Read and respond timely to internal email.
  • Update Shareholders and related coworkers on client account status, services being provided and current or potential issues for resolution.
  • Attend company meetings, work group meetings, training sessions and other pertinent events.

Taxes:

  • Prepare W-2’s and 1099’s.
  • Prepare monthly sales and use tax reports and payments, may use EFTPS & ATAP. 
  • Using information provided by client, make bookkeeping adjustments for tax returns.
  • Send out tax return drafts and process.

Training:

  • Participate in tax update and other related training classes, workshops and seminars.

Other Pertinent Duties:

  • Seek out and make familiar applicable deadlines specific to client to ensure timely completion of related forms, returns, payroll processing, filing deadlines, etc.
  • Be of assistance to team members.
  • Perform various tasks and other duties as assigned by management.
  • Be at work as scheduled and on time.

Qualifications:

  • Must have 3 years of recent Bookkeeping experience; recent experience in public accounting preferred.
  • Must have a high school diploma or equivalent; Associates degree or better preferred.
  • Must have excellent computer skills: Excel, Quickbooks desktop and/or QB Online.
  • Must have excellent communication skills both oral and written.
  • Must be able to multitask in a fast paced environment.
  • Must have excellent problem solving skills; critical thinking and analytical skills; and able to transfer knowledge from one client to the next.
  • Must be able to work independently and as a team; take initiative.
