Northern VA Real Estate Development Company seeks a General Counsel to replace outgoing GC who is retiring.
Must have 10 plus years of broad commercial real estate experience representing developers, including experience in a majority of the following areas: acquisitions, financing and refinancing, risk management, commercial leasing, contract negotiation and drafting (including ground leases, joint venture agreements, engineering and contractor agreements, vendor contracts, PSAs), closings, overseeing outside counsel on litigation and other matters, familiarity with zoning, permitting and title requirements, and general overall knowledge of commercial (office/retail) and multi-family housing property development/ownership.
Current GC has agreed to stay for 2 months to train. He has been with the company for 30 years and is a valuable resource.
Target comp: 275-300k base, plus annual bonus. First year bonus estimate is 50k, with increases thereafter based on performance and company profitability. Company has about 20 employees at the northern VA headquarters and about 100 company-wide with almost no turnover . Prefer in-office 5 days a week with flexibility, as needed. Hours are regular with occasional exceptions for a closing or execution of a major lease.
Will work directly with the president of the company and other members of management. Very collaborative work environment and excellent long-term opportunity. Will consider candidates from law firms or in-house.
