Job Description

About Us And The Role

Founded in 1936, Niterra North America, Inc. (formerly NGK Spark Plugs, Inc.) is a global leader in technology and innovation, with a legacy of designing world-class spark plugs and oxygen sensors. Today, we are transforming our business portfolio, expanding beyond our core ceramic technologies to develop solutions that address social issues and contribute to a sustainable society. As part of this evolution, we are entering the venture capital space, focusing on technology-driven industries and cross-cultural collaboration to drive meaningful impact.

This role offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in venture capital and investment management. You will assist in identifying, evaluating, and executing investment strategies that align with Niterra’s corporate goals, supporting financial analysis, due diligence, and stakeholder engagement. Working closely with experienced professionals, you will deepen your expertise in financial modeling, legal document review, and investment strategies while contributing to the success of our innovative and forward-thinking organization.

Your Responsibilities

  • Support the identification and evaluation of high-potential investment opportunities that align with Niterra’s strategic objectives.
  • Assist in building and maintaining a robust pipeline of potential investments in targeted technology sectors.
  • Contribute to due diligence processes by conducting financial analysis, market assessments, and risk evaluations.
  • Develop and refine financial models, including Discounted Cash Flow (DCF) analysis, sensitivity analyses, and multi-scenario projections, under mentorship.
  • Track the performance of portfolio companies by collecting operational data and monitoring key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Prepare data-driven performance reports and craft compelling investment narratives for executive-level decision-making.
  • Collaborate with team members and internal stakeholders to address strategic and operational challenges of portfolio companies.
  • Foster relationships with entrepreneurs, industry partners, and investors to enhance Niterra’s investment network.
  • Demonstrate flexibility and adaptability by contributing to special projects as assigned by management.

Who We Are Looking For

  • Pursuing or recently completed a bachelor’s or master’s degree in business, finance, economics, engineering, or a related field (MBA candidates are welcome).
  • Demonstrated interest in venture capital, entrepreneurship, or technology-driven industries through coursework, projects, internships, or extracurricular activities.
  • Strong analytical and research skills with the ability to synthesize data into clear insights.
  • Basic understanding of valuation techniques (e.g., DCF, Comparable Company Analysis, precedent transactions) and familiarity with three-statement financial models.
  • Excited to develop skills in fund-of-funds modeling, capital efficiency assessments, and return on invested capital (ROIC) scenarios.
  • Interest in building expertise in legal concepts, including term sheets, cap tables, and exit strategies, with guidance from experienced professionals.
  • Experience in multinational or cross-cultural environments, with a strong interest in learning Japanese business practices. Fluency in Japanese is highly desirable.
  • Proficiency with tools like Microsoft Office, Google Slides/Sheets, and Adobe Acrobat. Willingness to learn CRMs like Affinity or Airtable is encouraged.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, including crafting investment rationales and reports for executives.

Physical and Travel Requirements

  • Comfortable with extensive office tool use, attending meetings, and occasional bending or adjusting positions within the workspace.
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as required.

Training and Supervisory Controls

  • On-the-job training and seminars will be provided.
  • Reporting to the Managing Partner.

Potential Hazards

  • Normal office hazards.

At Niterra North America, we believe in fostering a high-performing and collaborative team culture, where mentorship and mutual support are central to our success. Join us in our mission to drive meaningful change through technology and strategic investments while contributing to a sustainable future.
