Job Description

Our client is seeking a skilled & detail-oriented Mechanical Designer to join their engineering team in North Chicago, IL. In this role, you will be responsible for creating and modifying detailed 3D CAD models, assemblies, and technical drawings for mechanical components and systems. You will work closely with engineers, project managers, and manufacturing teams to support new product development, prototyping, and production engineering.

Responsibilities

• Design mechanical components, assemblies, and systems using 3D CAD software (preferably SolidWorks).
• Create detailed 2D technical drawings, BOMs (Bills of Materials), and design documentation.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including engineering, manufacturing, and quality to ensure designs meet functional, cost, and manufacturability goals.
• Assist in design reviews and incorporate feedback into final designs.
• Support prototyping, testing, and iterative improvements of mechanical systems.
• Revise and update existing drawings and documentation in accordance with engineering change orders (ECOs).
• Ensure all designs adhere to company and industry standards, including applicable regulations.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Mechanical Design, Drafting, Engineering Technology, or related field.
• 2+ years of experience in mechanical design, preferably in a manufacturing or product development environment.
• Proficiency in SolidWorks.
• Strong knowledge of mechanical components, tolerancing (GD&T), and fabrication methods.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings, technical specifications, and schematics.
• Excellent attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
• Good verbal and written communication abilities.
• Must be US Citizen/GC

• North Chicago, IL but open to remote for the right candidate

Employment Type

• Contract (6 months)
