The Medical Laboratory Scientist II performs routine and specialized laboratory tests and other procedures essential for diagnosing and treating diseases. This role requires the utilization of advanced equipment, instruments, and computer systems to evaluate and report patient results using considerable independent judgment within established testing methods.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform routine and specialized laboratory tests with accuracy and efficiency.
  • Utilize laboratory instruments and computer systems to evaluate and report patient results.
  • Update knowledge and skills regularly and apply them appropriately.
  • Maintain age-specific and other required competencies.
  • Perform quality control procedures and contribute to the maintenance of laboratory equipment and supplies.
  • Assist in developing and implementing new procedures, instrumentation, and other laboratory improvements.
  • May take responsibility for laboratory projects or functions, such as performance improvement, safety, quality control, regulatory compliance, staff development, and computer systems management.
  • Train new employees and students in theoretical and operational aspects of procedures, evaluating their work.
  • Act as a resource for less experienced co-workers.
  • Perform other duties as assigned with general supervision and periodic review by supervisory staff.

Licensure:

  • Certification by the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) and/or the National Credentialing Agency for Laboratory Personnel is preferred.

Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Clinical Laboratory Science or Medical Technology is required.
  • Alternatively, an Associate’s Degree in Medical Laboratory Technology with preferred experience is acceptable, along with certification/licensure within 6 months of hire.

Experience Requirements:

  • A minimum of 2 years of clinical laboratory experience in moderate and high complexity testing is preferred.

Salary:
$27-$40 per hour, depending on experience

Shift:

  • Evening; Monday - Friday 2p-10p
