Job Overview

The pizza cook position is responsible for making and preparing dishes to order on the line during service. The people in this position will work as a team to consistently make the best food and pizza possible. While this position will primarily work a station during service, they may also need to prep food for their station before service starts, and should be familiar with how to make all of the dishes on their station at a high level.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Menu Execution and Preparation
    • Learn and execute all menu items according to recipes and plating standards 
      • Ask for clarification or demonstration when necessary
    • Learn and execute all food prep for menu items according to recipes and quality standards, as necessary
      • Ask for clarification or demonstration when necessary
    • Manage station mise en place and create daily prep lists to ensure station is properly set up for service and 86ing menu items is avoided
    • Set up/break down station following all restaurant procedures and cleaning protocols
      • Strive to always have assigned station set up before service begins
      • Assist others in having their stations set up, as necessary
    • Monitor food quality throughout service
    • Assist with cleaning dishes and assisting porters, when necessary
    • Properly store and label all food products
    • Assist in making family meal, as necessary
  • Scheduling/Timeliness
    • Follow all schedules provided by manager, making sure to arrive on time for all scheduled shifts and adhere to scheduled break times, when possible
    • Follow scheduled shift times, asking for manager approval to work overtime, when necessary
    • Communicate any scheduling conflicts or needs following protocols in Employee Handbook
      • Make sure to follow sick and vacation request policies, and help find a replacement for last minute shift request when they arise
  • City/State Ordinances & Inspections
    • Pass and maintain Food Handler’s Certificate
    • Learn and execute all food safety protocols and procedures as communicated by manager
    • Be prepared for health inspection 
  • Repairs & Maintenance
    • Make a strong effort to keep all equipment in the restaurant in working order, and notify a manager as soon as something needs repairs or maintenance
    • Learn proper use & care of equipment, taking care not to damage

Qualifications and Requirements

  • A minimum of one year of line cook experience, preferably in a high volume full service restaurant is required for this position 
  • Flexible availability, including nights and weekends
  • An ability to work a full eight hour shift on one’s feet, bend and stoop frequently, lift/carry up to 50lbs, and work at times in a hot/humid environment
  • Cooking tools like knives, spoons, microplanes, etc. are not required, but encouraged
  • A strong work ethic and ability to work clean and efficiently
  • Great communication and teamwork skills
  • Most importantly, a positive attitude and a willingness to learn new things is required

Reporting Structure

This position reports directly to the Chef de Cuisine.
