Job Description Invoke is looking for a Principal Cinematics Animator to join our cinematic team in developing a AAA single-player story-driven action-adventure game built using the Unreal Engine. In this position, you will play an important part in bringing our in-game narrative stories to life by working with the Directors, Lead, animators and cross discipline departments to craft memorable cinematic sequences which will have a high impact on the player experience. What you'll do Support the Cinematic Animation Director in defining and communicating the vision to the team, ensuring alignment with the game’s scope, schedule and quality benchmarks Create high-quality, realistic performance through motion captured and hand-keyed animations for in-game cinematics, as well as ensuring proactive troubleshooting of animation issues providing input to the technical team Assist the Cinematic Animation Director in planning and gathering information for preparing mocap shoots, working with DTs (rigs, sets, props, etc.) to ensure they are checked and validated Help onboard new team members by mentoring animators on tools and pipeline processes, providing guidance and feedback to achieve high-quality animated sequences that align with the Cinematic Animation Director's vision Participate in planning, recording, selection and integration of motion capture and animation data to ensure the quality is in line with the animation director’s vision Review the cinematic scenes in Unreal Engine ensuring a high-quality integration. What you'll bring 8+ years of experience as a Cinematic Animator and shipped at least one AAA game as a cinematic animator Expert at performance capture polish and keyframe proficiency for human and creature character Deep knowledge of the human anatomy, physiological reactions and body language to express character emotions through movement and facial expressions Strong understanding of narrative structure and cinematography vocabulary including pacing, and visual storytelling, including staging, camera, layout, and editing Expert in animation in Maya software Knowledge in Unreal 5.0 and Motion Builder is a plus Support actor performances and help direct motion capture shoots when needed is a plus Ability to be pro-active, self-motivated, and creative problem solver Good communication, organizational, time management, and interpersonal skills Eagerness to receive, seek, and provide constructive feedback An animation reel demonstrating senior-level skills with a clear explanation of contributions Proven mentoring and leadership abilities. Excellent communication skills in French and English.
