Special Education Collaborative Teacher Education, Assistant Professor, Tenure Track
The Department of Curriculum and Instruction in the School of Education and Human Sciences at the University of Alabama at Birmingham ( UAB ) invites applications for appointment to a 9-month tenure-track position at the level of Assistant Professor to begin August 2025. Salary and terms of appointment are commensurate with prior experience.
We seek a candidate in Special Education Collaborative Teacher Education with visionary leadership to guide our programs' growth through excellence in scholarship, teaching, and service. Responsibilities include engaging in scholarly activities such as securing grants, conducting research, publishing in peer-reviewed journals, and presenting at conferences. The candidate will also teach undergraduate and graduate courses, contribute service to the university and the profession, collaborate with faculty and administrators to meet accreditation standards, and develop partnerships with schools to enhance program offerings.

Situated in downtown Birmingham, Alabama, the UAB School of Education and Human Sciences is home to undergraduate and graduate programs in educator preparation, counselor education, community health and human services, and kinesiology. Our programs are accredited by relevant organizations and are staffed by world-class faculty. As part of a Carnegie Research 1 institution, faculty are nationally/internationally recognized scholars who pursue positive impact through research, grants, and dissemination activities. They integrate technology and exemplify best practices in teaching—making learning both engaging and rewarding.
