How will you fight for an AIDS-free generation?

The Sr. Director, Finance and Accounting (F&A) will oversee global financial operations, accounting, and financial planning and analysis. Reporting to the President, the Sr. Director, F&A will be a key member of the team, driving financial strategy and ensuring alignment with Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation (EGPAF) goals, federal regulations, and best practices.

Job Responsibilities

Strategic Financial Leadership

  • Serve as a trusted advisor to the President, Board of Directors, and the HXP Chief Operating Officer on financial matters presenting financial reports, forecasts, and strategic insights
  • Develop and execute financial strategies to support organizational growth, sustainability, and mission alignment
  • Lead the financial planning process, ensuring effective budgeting, forecasting, and resource allocation
  • Working closely with U.S. based senior leaders and Country Directors, provide financial insights and data-driven recommendations to guide strategic decision-making

Financial Management and Oversight

  • Oversee all aspects of financial operations, including accounting, treasury, cash flow, and investment management
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP, nonprofit accounting standards, and financial reporting requirements
  • Establish and maintain robust financial systems, internal controls, and risk management protocols

Government Funding and Compliance

  • Oversee financial management of U.S. government grants, ensuring compliance with OMB Uniform Guidance and other funding regulations
  • Manage cost allocation plans, indirect cost rates, and grant reporting requirements
  • Ensure timely and accurate audit preparation, and maintain strong relationships with external auditors.

Risk and Performance Management

  • Proactively identify and mitigate financial risks
  • Monitor key financial metrics and performance indicators to ensure financial health and mission effectiveness

Team Leadership and Development

  • Lead and mentor the Accounting, Financial Planning & Analysis and Regional Finance teams, fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration, and professional growth
  • Establish clear roles, responsibilities, and performance expectations for teams

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (required); CPA or advanced degree (MBA, MPA) strongly preferred
  • A minimum of 15 years of relevant experience in finance and accounting, with at least 8 years in a leadership role
  • In-depth working knowledge of 2 CFR 200 costs principles and audit standards as well as FAR financial compliance. USG Cost Accounting Standards (CAS) Compliance experience preferred.
  • Strong expertise in nonprofit accounting standards, GAAP, U.S. government grants management (e.g., OMB Uniform Guidance), is required
  • Proven expertise in financial planning and budgeting
  • Strong leadership and team-building skills, with the ability to manage cross-functional relationships effectively
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities
  • Proficiency with financial management software (e.g., QuickBooks, Unit4) and advanced Excel skills
  • High ethical standards and strong attention to detail

Salary Range

The expected salary range for this position is $138,466-$173,097 annually in the Washington, DC Metro area. For US-based remote staff, EGPAF uses geographical ranges that are based on the candidate’s location and the associated cost of labor. Actual base salary compensation will be determined by factors such as

, experience and training, education and certifications, internal equity, external market data, and budget.
