Responsibilities

Peraton is seeking a Summer 2025 Software Engineering Intern in our Melbourne, FL location to support a command-and-control software-intensive system for satellites and satellite ground systems.

This will be a hybrid position and, therefore, requires someone local to the Melbourne, FL area.

Responsibilities:

• Under general supervision performs general application development and modernization of the current satellite systems.
• Assists current staff in designing upgrades to current system software.
• Provide trouble ticket support and help resolve issues/bugs.
• Scripting and programming predominantly with C and Java.
• File functionality support.
• Any other ad-hoc responsibilities as directed.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

• HS Diploma and some advanced level training.
• U.S. Citizenship.
• Have completed progress toward a bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, or a related field.
• Foundational experience in an object-oriented programming language, preferably in Java or C, and exposure to software engineering processes.
• Hands on programming experience through coursework and/or prior internships.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to quickly adapt and learn new technologies and concepts.
• Self-motivated, independent, detail oriented, responsible team-player.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Must be local to the Melbourne, FL area and/or able to commute on-site daily.

Desired Qualifications:

• Exposure to Agile software development processes.
• Familiarity with web development frameworks and/or database technologies.
• Exposure to cloud computing environments.

Target Salary Range

The rate / range per hour below represents the typical pay for this position based on experience and other factors.
