Job Description

Job Overview:

We are seeking an experienced Utilities Manager to oversee the comprehensive management of our utility systems, including boilers, steam turbines, water, and wastewater treatment plants, as well as landfill operations, in the Richmond, Virginia area. The successful candidate will be instrumental in driving efficiency, reliability, and cost-effectiveness in utility services, supporting our manufacturing operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead initiatives to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of energy and utility systems across the facility.
  • Develop and implement strategies for reducing energy consumption and adopting energy-efficient technologies.
  • Monitor and analyze energy usage data to identify improvement opportunities and implement solutions.
  • Educate and train team members on energy-saving practices and sustainability initiatives.
  • Negotiate and manage contracts with energy suppliers and contractors, ensuring compliance and cost-effectiveness.
  • Stay informed on relevant energy legislation and ensure the facility's compliance with environmental regulations.
  • Research and recommend new technologies and renewable energy sources to enhance operational efficiency.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to execute energy efficiency projects and initiatives.
  • Ensure safe and environmentally compliant operations of the boiler, waste treatment, and landfill systems.
  • Communicate the status and performance of utility systems to management and other stakeholders.
  • Coordinate with the Procurement team on energy and utility-related contracts and agreements.
  • Develop and manage safety programs in alignment with organizational safety standards.
  • Plan, budget, and oversee preventive maintenance procedures to ensure reliable utility operations.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in energy or facility management, environmental services, or engineering.
  • Proven experience in managing energy consumption and reducing operating costs across various facility types.
  • Proficiency in data analysis, budgeting, procurement, and contract management.
  • Strong communication skills with proven leadership experience.
  • Certification such as Certified Energy Manager (CEM), Certified Energy Procurement Professional (CEP), or LEED AP is preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in engineering, environmental science, resource management, or a related field.
  • Experience with Aerobic and Anaerobic Treatment processes is highly desirable.
