Position Overview
We are seeking a Cost Accountant to oversee cost accounting and inventory management functions. This role plays a key part in maintaining accurate inventory records through cycle counts, reporting, and effective communication across departments. The Cost Accountant will help ensure inventory accuracy and integrity to support uninterrupted operations and prevent shortages.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and manage product costing and bills of materials
Track input costs related to cultivation and manufacturing
Reconcile inventory weekly and monthly between sub-ledger and general ledger
Streamline inventory procedures and standardize reporting
Oversee production and harvest cycles; compare outcomes to budget
Prepare monthly cultivation forecasts and consolidate into corporate forecasts
Analyze manufacturing yields and potency results of in-process and finished goods
Collaborate with purchasing on material requirements
Analyze cost absorption and perform variance analysis
Conduct periodic inventory counts and improve counting controls
Recommend cost-saving and efficiency-improving strategies
Monitor inventory for net realizable value
Manage and reconcile inter-company inventory transactions
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Economics required
CPA or CMA preferred
Proficiency in QuickBooks, Excel, Word, and other office applications
5+ years of accounting experience in a manufacturing environment preferred
Ability to manage and analyze large data sets
Strong organizational, planning, and time management skills
Capable of working independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
High attention to detail and strong work ethic
