In order to be considered for this position, you must meet the following minimum qualifications:
Experience as a Paralegal (preferably criminal)
Willingness to show initiative and collaborate on legal issues
Professional appearance and attitude
Ability to communicate effectively with clients and staff and act as a client liaison for attorneys
Comprehension and comfort with efiling systems
Comprehension and comfort with databases (ex: dropbox, case management software, etc.)
Ability to triage phone calls and respond to clients appropriately
Ability to work independently, anticipate critical issues, and collaborate for a resolution
Strong problem-solving skills
Strong interpersonal and emotional problem-solving skills
Ability to prioritize with shifting demands
Attend and assist in court proceedings and trial
Prepare for client intake/client meetings
Maintain client records/files/financials/court calendar
Ability to operate in a fast-paced environment
Strong attention to detail

Strong grammar and writing skills
Strong ability to research and write legal memoranda, subpoenas, and motions

Criminal law is 24/7. Our firm offers an after-hours call service to clients and potential new clients. Phone rotation for potential new or emergency calls will be required on evenings and weekends.

We defend.
This is a full-time position. Hours are 830-500pm, Monday-Friday

We are a two-attorney firm with 2 legal assistants. We have been practicing since 2004 and have been continuously growing. We are looking for a paralegal to add to our team. Our central office is in Ft. Walton Beach. This position requires full time employment at the Ft. Walton Beach office. We have 2 satellite offices that are not currently staffed. Satellite offices may be staffed in the future. We are looking for the right fit for the firm. Simply, we are willing to relocate and compensate the right candidate. So, what can you expect with F&M? Although we are a small firm practicing only criminal defense, we are a very fast-paced environment. We have built a strong reputation of excellence and constantly develop creative solutions to highly complex criminal matters. We are looking for a candidate that wants to be involved and wants a career, not a job. We do not want someone who punches a time clock. We want collaboration and someone who can empathize with our clients. While we do handle smaller misdemeanor cases, our forte is felony cases. We have become a go to firm for people charged with serious sexual offenses and serious felonies facing prison. Most cases we defend involve high stakes and life-ending implications. For that reason, it is imperative that we find the right candidate who can balance compassion, level-headedness, and professionalism.
