Job Description

The Senior Fire Protection Engineer will lead and manage projects that encompass a variety of fire protection systems and life safety programs. This role involves overseeing design work, conducting evaluations, and coordinating with clients and teams to ensure the successful delivery of projects.

Responsibilities :

  • Spearhead the design, specification, and coordination of fire protection systems, including wet-pipe, dry-pipe, pre-action, deluge, and foam/water suppression systems.
  • Manage fire water supply systems such as storage tanks, fire pumps, and underground or above-ground distribution piping.
  • Oversee specialized suppression systems like clean agents and outdoor fire protection solutions such as spray and monitor systems.
  • Conduct in-depth evaluations of building and life safety requirements, including occupancy classifications, smoke management systems, building egress, and fire resistive assemblies.
  • Perform fire protection calculations, such as hydraulic analysis, battery load calculations, and voltage drops.
  • Review and validate contractor shop drawings, oversee installations, conduct field inspections, and test fire protection systems during the construction phase.
  • Develop technical reports and deliver presentations tailored to both technical and client-focused audiences.
  • Build and maintain relationships with clients, contractors, and other stakeholders to identify new opportunities and strengthen ongoing collaborations.
  • Lead marketing efforts and manage cost proposals, ensuring financial targets and performance standards are met.
  • Provide leadership to team members, ensuring adherence to quality standards and guiding professional development.

Required Skills and Qualifications :

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Fire Protection Engineering or a related engineering discipline from an ABET-accredited institution.
  • A minimum of 7 years of design experience (a Master’s degree may substitute for 1 year).
  • Professional Fire Protection Engineer (P.E.) license required.
  • Expertise in software and tools, including hydraulic calculation software, AutoCAD, Revit, and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word).
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with a proven ability to analyze and solve complex problems.
  • Familiarity with military standards is preferred.
  • Ability to meet client access requirements, such as Department of Energy (DOE) and Department of State (DOS) facilities.
