Description:
Oversee the medical care provided to residents of developmental centers.
Plan, coordinate, and direct the delivery of medical services.
Establish policies and procedures for medically related topics consistent with required standards.
Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to problem-solve issues affecting health and safety.
Make and implement recommendations by ordering medical interventions.
Serve as the primary care physician for designated individuals residing at the facilities.
Conduct physicals, evaluate and diagnose medical concerns, and monitor reactions to treatment and medications.
Write prescriptions and medical orders, complete documentation.
Collaborate with certified nurse practitioners at each facility.
Consult with facility committees and other parties, including medical professionals and legal divisions.
Direct systems for children with special health care needs and all medical policies related to their diagnosis and treatment.
Act as medical director for infectious disease control, defining parameters for surveillance of infectious diseases statewide.
Direct the development and evaluation of data to ascertain the spread of infectious diseases.
Supervise lower-level medical and health care personnel.
Formulate medical policy and direct its implementation.
Provide direct medical or psychiatric care in complex cases.
Assist in coordinating public health problems that involve multiple areas of the division.
Act as medical supervisor during investigations of disease outbreaks.
Oversee the development of maternal and child health services and resource allocation proposals.
Provide medical consultation for all programs and establish program policies and standards of care.
Participate in comprehensive planning of statewide services for women, infants, and children.
