The Wisconsin Department of Children and Families (DCF), Division of Milwaukee Child Protective Services (DMCPS), Quality Operations Bureau (QOB) is currently recruiting to fill an Office Associate position in Milwaukee, WI. This position is headquartered at our Milwaukee office and works onsite five days per week. This schedule may change based on training or operational needs. Employees will need to report to the Department of Children and Families office, located at 635 N 26 St., Milwaukee, WI on their first day for onboarding and orientation.

Position Summary

The Office Associate will report to the Program Assistant Supervisor – Advanced and is responsible for providing support to the Program Supervisors, Program Managers, Service Managers, Section Managers, and Initial Assessment Staff in the Division of Milwaukee Child Protective Services. The position will also exercise considerable tact, judgment and independent decision-making and will maintain a professional attitude and demeanor, as well as perform other program specific assistance as assigned.

Salary Information

The starting salary is $18.54 per hour ($38,711.52 annually). Pay for current State of WI employees will be based on the compensation plan in effect at the time of the appointment. Pay for current state employees who are transferring will be determined based upon the pay on transfer rules (higher level duties or equity) as outlined in the compensation plan in effect at the time of appointment.

The pay schedule/range is 02-09. A one-year probationary period may be required.

Job Details

Due to the nature of the position, final candidates may be required to allow DCF to conduct a security background check to determine whether the circumstances of any pending charges or convictions would be substantially related to the job being filled.

Applicants must be legally entitled to work in the United States (i.e., a citizen or national of the U.S., a lawful permanent resident, an alien authorized to work in the U.S. without DCF sponsorship.) The Department of Children and Families does not sponsor visas, either at time of hire or at any later time.

Qualifications

You must have the ability to meet the minimum State Department of Administration fleet standards listed below:

• Possession of a valid driver's license
• Minimum of two years licensed driving experience
• 18 years of age or older

Minimally qualified applicants will have:

• Customer service and administrative support experience in an office setting (i.e. answering calls, greeting customers, filing, sorting and sending mail, etc.)
• Experience using Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook at a basic level (creating notes or documents, updating logs and spreadsheets, and sending/receiving email communication).
• Experience handling sensitive/confidential information and/or documentation.
• Experience meeting deadlines and prioritizing tasks.

Well-qualified applicants will have:

• Experience with a multi-line phone system, taking meeting minutes, commercial/fleet vehicle management, or record redaction.
• Experience using active listening skills and probing techniques with callers or visitors to gather relevant information to determine how to best service the caller/visitor.
• Experience using databases or regulatory software (eWiSACWIS or similar) to research and pull program/business information for internal/external requests or customers.
