Job Description

We are looking for a dedicated and skilled Virtual School Sign Language Interpreter to join our team for the upcoming 2024-2025 school year. This fully remote, contracted position offers the opportunity to support K-12 students by providing virtual sign language interpretation during live online classes and school activities.

The ideal candidate will have a strong command of American Sign Language (ASL) and previous experience in educational settings. You'll play a crucial role in ensuring all students have equal access to educational content, while collaborating with teachers and staff to enhance communication.

Key Responsibilities:
Interpret for students during live online classes, activities, and events, ensuring clear communication.
Work closely with teachers and staff to support students' communication needs.
Adjust interpreting styles to accommodate students with varying levels of hearing loss and different learning needs.
Keep thorough records and documentation of services provided.

Qualifications:
ASL Educational Licensure in Michigan is required.
Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) is essential.
Previous experience as a sign language interpreter in an educational setting is preferred.
Comfort with virtual learning platforms and related technology.
Strong communication and organizational skills.
Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
