Description Please be sure to submit a current resume when applying for this position Position Summary The Sr Editorial Assistant coordinates editorial functions of department publications/magazine in such areas as author, printer, and advertising contacts. Serves as primary contact with authors regarding manuscripts and communicating decisions of editors. Coordinates with printer and designer for production of magazine. Also coordinates video production projects for the department.
Compensation - Full - time hourly position with benefits
- Remuneration: Grade 6 ($28.18 - $35.93)

SUPERVISOR Richard Kajiura
Essential Job Functions - Coordinates editorial processes for assigned AM publications, including Mission 360 magazine and other department materials and resources.
- Editorial Assistant duties span all phases of production, and include editing, copyediting, proofreading final page proofs for accuracy, and where required, working with contributors and designers.
- Serves as the production and distribution manager for department publications and e-newsletters.
- Researches and writes AM-related articles, on topics related to Adventist Mission as requested.
- Assists with developing department brochures and materials explaining the work of AM.
- Performs research for projects as needed.
- Serves as production assistant for department. This includes coordinating logistics, scheduling guests, managing scripts, coordinating with AM production staff as needed.
- Developing website/social media content, ensures postings are uploaded on a regular and timely basis. May include curating photos, converting files to proper formats etc.
- Manages distribution process for publications and email newsletters.
- Assists with monitoring web and social media activity; evaluates/tracks analytics. Responds to routine questions and routes incoming messages to appropriate staff.
- Travels to major events to staff exhibits and oversee exhibit interaction tracking. Prepares and ships exhibit, and event materials as needed.
- Grades, imports, and catalogs photos and videos for photo and video databases.
- Manages archive of AM-produced materials and log video and print stories.
- Coordinates yearly transfer or archival publication material to ASTR.
- Assists with coordinating meetings as needed.
- Must be a member in regular standing of the Seventh-day Adventist Church
- Must maintain a regular and reliable attendance schedule
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications Education and Experience - Bachelor’s (BA/BS) degree in communications and/or writing related field or language arts required.
- Relevant and successful experience may be considered in lieu of academic requirements.
- Minimum of four years office experience is required to obtain the skills necessary for satisfactory performance of essential job functions.
Knowledge Skills & Abilities - Well-developed knowledge of principles, policies and beliefs of the General Conference and the Seventh-day Adventist Church.
- Requires well developed knowledge of church employment policies and practices.
- Must have well-developed skills in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook).
- Ability to maintain neatness and order, organization and pleasant disposition in dealing with others.
- Requires knowledge of current office procedures such as filing, telephone techniques, office equipment & software (including Word, Access, and Outlook, etc.), and English usage (spelling, grammar, punctuation, etc.)
- Must have editorial aptitude as well as the ability to perform support duties with speed and accuracy without constant supervision.
- Must have the ability to work under pressure and with interruptions.
- Absolute confidentiality required at all times.
